Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes
Available at Sephora, $18 each.
Honestly, I thought that the Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes eyeliners were just a load of b.s. that everyone on YouTube was buying. I thought everyone was crazy. How different could they possibly be from a regular old black eyeliner pencil (which by the way, I hate)? I always use gel eye liner, or nothing at all. Well, I have a tendency to lose things, since I do my makeup sitting on my bed, and the gel eyeliner brush tends to migrate and disappear and therefore be unavailable when I go to do my eyeliner. This means I have to use a brush that doesn't work as well (more on brushes later) and the result is pretty much awful despite what I would say are considerable makeup skills. So the remote possibility that a pencil eyeliner could stay on as well as Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner was rather interesting to me... nonetheless actually spending $18 on a pencil took me at least a year to actually give in to.
This pencil claims to be waterproof. It is also supposed to be very pigmented. Well, I can actually tell you those are true statements. It took me literally less than two minutes to line both of my upper lash lines to complete satisfaction, with intense black results, that did not come off despite the fact that I was rushing out the door to meet my coworkers for dinner and had no time to wash my face and redo my makeup... and my skin was getting a little oily. My other dark black eyeliners smudge to kingdom come! Don't even get me started on Stila Kajal eyeliners... those things are creamier and more moisturizing than a lipstick! This pencil is not like that at all.
So let's see... Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliner for $21 plus the cost of a good eyeliner brush... or $18 for one of these pencils. Based on the results, I'd say the pencil wins. Great results for the money and the time spent. It can take me up to like 8 minutes to do my eyeliner with the gel and a brush. This you just glide it along and it's done. In addition, Bobbi Brown's gel eyeliner is the best out there- and it isn't even technically waterproof, and it does fade.
I got this in shades 0L and 12L (black and metallic teal).
